Manual evaluation of corn kernel index is a slow, tedious, and highly error-prone process. Faced with this scenario, we conceived ZeaEye, Tbit’s first 100% portable equipment. With its 4-hour battery life, it’s entirely possible — and recommended! — to take the equipment into the field and record images of the ears as they are harvested.

In each analysis, multiple photographs are recorded as the ear is automatically rotated inside the machine. Thus, no information is lost in the process. And rest assured: AI ensures that grains that may appear in multiple photos are not duplicated!

For quick capture — completed in a matter of seconds — all processing is done later, on a computer. However, although possible, there is no need to use it connected to a computer: it has an internal memory that can hold up to 10,000 ears. This way, you can record your entire batch without the need for a computer or laptop, leaving the processing for a later time.

Using a Wi-Fi signal emitted by ZeaEye, through your cell phone or other mobile device, identifiers can be inserted into the samples to guarantee their traceability. Through this same means, you can monitor memory availability and even view the last photo recorded.

Although designed with portability in mind, another perfectly possible and possibly convenient use is to use the equipment on a bench, connected by cable to a computer. The main advantage is the time savings in data transfer: directly connected, each photographed ear is sent directly to the system on the computer and then processed.
